Martin Babinec, President & CEO, TriNet
Martin Babinec is President & CEO of TriNet, which provides a single-vendor solution for outsourcing benefits, payroll, and HR support. In 2001, TriNet earned revenues of $28.6 million and a place in the Inc. 500 Hall of Fame.
Mr. Babinec is a recipient of the Silicon Valley Entrepreneur of the Year award. He is a member of the international Young Entrepreneurs Organization and serves on the Board of Advisors to the Kauffman Foundation's Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. He also serves as a guest lecturer with the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Protecting the VC Director through the use of Management Liability Insurance Products
Robert B. Spofford, President, The Spofford Group
Mr. Spofford has over 20 years of insurance experience including both underwriting and brokering of both traditional and non-traditional management liability and "deal facilitation" coverages including unique coverages for the private equity community. He was an underwriting manager for the Chubb Group of Insurance Company’s Department of Financial Institutions in the Northeast Region. Following a position with a regional insurance brokerage firm, Mr. Spofford joined Willis Corroon Corporation of Massachusetts as an Assistant Vice President, Producer and Account Executive.
During his tenure at Willis Corroon, Mr. Spofford was promoted to the office of Vice President and consistently achieved Exceptional Producer status.
In 1995 Mr. Spofford established his own specialty insurance brokerage firm focusing exclusively on developing and implementing sophisticated traditional and non-traditional management liability and "deal facilitation" risk management programs with a special emphasis on private equity issues.
A graduate of Northeastern University, Mr. Spofford earned a B.S. in Finance and Insurance.

Deal Terms That Are Interesting
John H. Chory, Partner in Charge of the Hale and Dorr Venture Group
John Chory specializes in the representation of venture-backed emerging technology companies. Mr. Chory advises both private and public companies in the areas of initial- through late-stage venture capital financings, public offerings of securities, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law. His clients include Akamai Technologies, SilverStream Software, Eziba.com, Quantum Bridge Communications, Open Market, Sepracor, Oxford Global Resources, Village Ventures, Optiant, and GoldPocket Interactive. Mr. Chory also advises many entrepreneurs and early-stage start-up companies. Mr. Chory serves on the Advisory Board of MIT Enterprise Forum.
While in law school, Mr. Chory taught negotiation as a teaching assistant to Prof. Roger Fisher of the Harvard Negotiation Project. He served as a U.S. Army Intelligence Officer from 1980-1985, and as a major in the U.S. Army Reserves until November, 1998. Mr. Chory joined Hale and Dorr in 1988.
Mr. Chory received a J.D. degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He received an M.B.A. degree with honors from Golden Gate University, and a B.S. degree in computer science with honors from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point.

Securing Funding from a Fund of Funds
Rebecca Connolly, General Partner, Everest Ventures (Venture Capital Fund Advisor to Bessemer Trust)
Becky is a general partner of Everest Ventures, LLC, a specialized venture capital advisory firm. Everest currently provides advice with respect to selection of venture capital funds and due diligence to the $700 million venture capital fund of funds programs of Bessemer Trust, N.A. and Bessemer Securities Corporation. Bessemer Securities Corporation is an investment firm for the benefit of the descendants of Henry Phipps which commenced with his share of the proceeds from the sale of Carnegie Steel. Bessemer Trust, with $33 billion under management, provides investment expertise in managing diversified portfolios of securities and comprehensive financial and fiduciary services.
Prior to joining Everest, Becky was a private equity lawyer with Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault. At TH&T, she represented a number of venture capital organizations, structuring their investment programs as well as representing them in private financings. Becky also represented high-tech start-up companies in all aspects of their formation, financing and operations. Her clients touched a variety of technologies including communications networking, computer hardware, enterprise software, Internet services, semiconductor equipment, biopharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Becky has an undergraduate degree in Economics from The College of the Holy Cross ('88) and a J.D. from Boston College Law School ('91).
