Financial Services Authority Examines the Private Equity Industry

The U.S. Private Equity market, unlike the U.S. venture market, has awakened to the realities of possible increased government review, or worse, outright regulation. PE professionals should look to their brethren--the venture capital industry and its advocacy group--the National Venture Capital Association as a model to follow to beat back the artificial hand of government intervention.

But it might also look to the U.K., where for years, the FSA (Financial Services Authority) has had the authority to regulate private markets.
