Intern at Grameen Foundation's CMAC
Title: Intern - Summer/Fall 2008
Location: Flexible, though periodic meetings in New York or DC might be required. GF's international headquarters is in Washington, DC.
Job Description:
Grameen Foundation's Capital Management and Advisory Center (CMAC) has an opening for one intern to work on a Private Equity Fund that will invest in microfinance institutions ("MFIs") and Social Businesses around the world. The position is an excellent way for graduate level students to gain experience in fund development and the microfinance industry. Essential Job Functions:
- Extensive market research on investible MFIs based on the proposed Fund criteria; comparable market valuations and exits; and potential investors.
- Extensive financial modeling of the Fund pro forma cashflows and investor returns, including
investee projections and projected investors' cashflow waterfall.
- Please note that a high level proficiency in building Excel financial projections and sensitivities is required
- Assist in drafting the Private Placement Memorandum and Term Sheet
- Assist with drafting and creating the marketing road show presentations
- Please note that high level proficiency in Powerpoint presentations is required.
- Researching for and writing of any additional Fund related documents (including presentations, memos, letters, etc.)
- Develop knowledge base of latest industry developments and regulatory developments related to country-specific equity investments
- Assist with investment evaluation of pipelined transactions including review of the business plans and financial projections and drafting of the investment report.
- Other required Fund related activity, as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Superior written communication skills particularly for information memoranda and presentations
- Financial transaction experience required, including strong financial modeling skills
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Private equity, investment/commercial banking, microfinance, and/or international development experience preferred
- Strong time management skills and ability to manage various projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
- Must be able to work independently with very minimal supervision and direction
Education Preferences: Graduate student or recently completed graduate degree, preferably MBA
