Abstract
Statutory terms under Federal and state law - such as "hazardous materials," "hazardous substances" and "releases" - should be included if the broadest possible coverage is desired. Note, too, that while petroleum products and oil are covered under some state laws, they are not covered under Federal law. This definition should be reviewed in light of the requirements of the states involved in particular transactions. Environmental Law Environmental Law shall mean any law, statute, regulation, code, ordinance, rule, order, consent decree, settlement agreement or governmental requirement, (i) which relates to or otherwise imposes liability or standards of conduct concerning discharges, releases or threatened releases, emissions or deposits of noises, odors, pollutants, contaminants, petroleum products, oil or hazardous or toxic wastes, substances or materials into ambient air, water or land, (ii) which relates to the manufacture, processing, generation, distribution, use, treatment, storage, disposal, cleanup, transport or handling of pollutants, contaminants,
